Become Findable - People are looking for the services that you provide. Hundreds, maybe thousands of people, are looking for your assistance. They are also looking for someone with your background, experience, and personality. Odd? No, it's not. Human beings love connection and relationships. So would you instead hire a professional that you can trust and have a relationship with? Now, I am not saying you must make your clients your besties. No, not that. When people seek to resolve issues or take care of issues they do not have the specialized experience to do themselves, they would instead work with someone they can relate to. People want to work with someone that cares about their situation and will take them out of their pain or get the thing done.
But the question is, do they know you exist? If you are reading this, probably not.
Here are three moves you can make today to become findable to the people who need you.
Pick one social media platform and make sure your profile is current. Start with the one where you have the most followers. Next, ensure you have a nice profile picture—preferably a professional headshot.
Assuming you have a website, ensure your meta description is current. Make sure you have some search engine optimization incorporated into the words of your meta description and website. This means incorporating keywords and your location throughout the website. For professionals, people will search for “local certified public accountant.” So if your website has words that google will pay attention to, people will find you. Now, SEO can be a complicated process; however, possible. I had a website optimized for keywords, and the leads flowed like a waterfall. I must have received 2-3 leads daily, five days per week. It is worth hiring a professional to review your website or social media page to make sure all settings are optimized and that you are easily findable.
Make it easy for people to get in touch with you. Have a calendar link that can easily be shared and used to book a 15-minute appointment. Ask a few questions to qualify the person booking the meeting (e.g. ask for a website, remind them the call is complimentary, revenue range, etc.). However, limit the days and times people can book to avoid interrupting your focused time.
